Directions
In this project we were given a random word and were told to create a short film that clearly illustrates the word. The film had to be 60-90 seconds long and sound was not allowed.
Approach
We used a brainstorming sheet and a storyboard sheet to help prepare and pre-visualize our film. The storyboard helped a lot as it allowed us to see our film in sequential order and allowed me and my partner to stay organized. The pictures of my storyboard are below. We also had to use editing software's to help edit our film to utilize the new editing techniques that we learned in class. The software that I used is adobe express. This software is the beginner software and it made it very easy to control and manipulate all my clips.
Analysis
The word for my film was "curious". So in my film we created a story about a boy in school who sees a door that reads "do not enter". In the film, we utilized a variety of angles and composition such as long shots, medium shots, close ups, over the shoulder, tracking shots, etc. We also used some of the editing techniques that we learned in class such as and eyeline match, action match and cross cutting. However, Some cuts were unnatural making the film look sloppy.
Overall, for my first time editing, I would say I did a decent job and I will definitely see improvement in the future as I continue to learn more in class and do more projects like these. To watch my video, click on the link below.
